Monsignor Ronald Knox, who was raised in an Anglican priest, and later converted to the Roman Catholic Church did a translation of The Bible into Modern English in the middle of the 20th Century. His book, On Englishing the Bible, deals with some of the hardships of translating the Bible from the Hebrew, Greek and Latin into Modern English.
