Yes, typically a Baptist pastor must be ordained in order to lead a congregation. Ordination is a formal process where a person is recognized and authorized by a religious organization to serve as a minister or pastor.
An SBC pastor must have left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) prior to becoming a Baptist in order to be accepted as an SBC pastor. For a thorough discussion of the Masonic issue, read Dr. Gary Leazer's 1995 book, "Fundamentalism & Freemasonry: The Southern Baptist Investigation of the Fraternal Order." Leazer sees no conflict between Masonry and the SBC. The book was an extended version of his report to the SBC leadership.
God chose John to baptize people in order to pave the way for Jesus the Messiah.Another answerMandate of Israel:Yeshua never chose the baptist movement, and neither did He found/chose any of the churches. The claim of the church is misleading. He already had a Congregation called Israel which His own Father founded at Mt. Horev. Yeshua was sent to redeem Israel and to rebuild the "The Congregation" that the leaders of Israel was failing to establish.
John the Baptist founded no religious order.
Within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) there is nobody with the title of "Pastor". The leader of the congregation is called a "Bishop". The Bishop fills a similar role as a Pastor in most Christian churches. It may be helpful to understand the organization of Mormon priesthood offices in order to understand the difference between a Bishop and a Priest. Within Mormonism, all worthy males (most practicing men) are ordained to the priesthood. At age 12, one may be ordained as a Deacon. At age 14, one may be ordained as a Teacher. At age 16, a boy may be ordained as a Priest. These are all offices in the Aaronic Priesthood. Mormons believe this is the same priesthood that Aaron, brother of Moses, was given. At 18, one is eligible to be ordained an Elder. Those adult men serving in higher ranking leadership positions are generally ordained as High Priests. Elders and High Priests are offices in the Melchizedek Priesthood. Mormons believe this is the the same priesthood that the Old Testament Melchizedek held. Each of these five offices build on each other in responsiblity and authority - so an ordained Priest also has the power and responsibility of a Deacon and Teacher. A Bishop must have previously been ordained as a Deacon, Teacher, Priest, Elder, and High Priest. However, the Bishop is also technically a Priest and serves as the president of all the Priests in his congregation. The differences are: -there is only one Bishop in each congregation, but there are usually many Priests. -Bishop is a temporary position usually of four to seven years, Priest is a lifetime ordination. -Bishops are required to be married men and have generally been members of the church for quite some time. Priests are as young as 16 and may have been members of the church for as little as one day. -Priests may perform baptisms and bless the sacrament, but only under the direction of the Bishop. -the Bishop is responsible for the day to day operations of the congregation as well as counseling and shepherding each of the members. The Priests may assist in many ways if called upon.
Old Order German Baptist Brethren was created in 1921.
a member, usher, leader, deacon, co-pastor, and pastor
Mitt Romney served as a Bishop (congregational leader) and a Stake President (leader of a group of congregations) in Massachusetts in the 1990's. Mormon Bishops and Stake Presidents usually serve for a period of three to seven years, because the position demands 20-30 hours each week and is entirely unpaid. There is no campaigning or applying for these positions, they are rotated and assigned by higher church leadership.
There is no costumes or uniforms worn in the Baptist Church. There is not a designated "leader of the prayers", either. There is a pastor, selected or elected by the membership, whose responsibility is to shepherd the flock, teach God's Word, and, along with the other elders, ensure that the Word of God is not re-written to coincide with some popular world view. The pastor is not considered more holy than any other Christian. The Baptist believe the Bible teaches that all people have access to God thru Jesus Christ. There is no need for a priest to get to God, or in order to receive favor from God.
yeah but normally they do not do that unless they have toNo only those that have been ordained to do so. Not just everyone can just do so. That would be like asking my child can I be your daddy. LOL it is just out of order.
Secular clergy are ordained ministers who are not bound by a religious order and typically serve in a specific geographic location such as a parish. Religious clergy belong to a specific religious order or congregation and may live in a community setting with other clergy members. They often take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience in addition to their ordination vows.
A group of people in a church is called the congregation. They may also be divided into a dioceses or council, depending on the order to which they belong. The congregation often calls themselves the Church Family.
No. Some are, and some are not, even within the same order.
