Yes, people who believe in an afterlife or reward for death often have a different grieving process. Certain religions have special ceremonies to "celebrate" passing on to the afterlife. Christianity for example believes that people go to heaven after death if they are a Christian. So, a Christian funeral is often somewhat of a joyous occasion because they believe the deceased is in a better place than they are on earth.
