Explain the article 1 of the Apostles Creed?

The first article of the Apostles' Creed is this:

"I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth."

It would require much more than this space provides to adequately explain every aspect of this article. However, in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, nos. 199-421, the first article of the Creed is exhaustively treated. It should be more than sufficient to answer this question.
