The Catholic Church burns incense at certain special Masses but has never burned opium.
It is a thurible and used to burn incense.

If you are referring to the Sanctuary Lamp, it is extinguished after the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday and not lit again until the Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday. This is done in all Catholic churches around the world. So, the candle does not burn on Good Friday and most of Holy Saturday.
yes well..actually she was burned at the stake in France by French Catholic clerics with the encouragement and support of the English for alleged heresy against the Catholic Church with the real reason being that she was SAVING France from the English. Funny huh..restored French sovereignity by driving out the English AND lived a life of such devotion to the Catholic faith that she was canonized by the Catholic Church as a beutific example of following the faith. and gets burned at the stake for allegedly being an enemy of the Catholic Church by FRENCH CATHOLICS
Bloody Mary was a Catholic and did not burn any popes.
Because she was a staunch Catholic (her mother was Catherine of Aragon) and when she became Queen on the death of Edward VI resolved to reunite the English church with the Church of Rome. Nearly 300 people who refused to convert back from Protestant to Catholic were burnt at the stake. That's how problems were resolved in Merrie Olde England.
The Sanctuary Lamp is kept burning in front of the tabernacle in Catholic churches as a sign and a reminder that Jesus is really present in the Eucharist (Consecrated Host) stored in the tabernacle. In the Old Testament, God commanded that a lamp should always burn in the Tabernacle (Exodus 27:20-21). If there are no Consecrated Hosts in the tabernacle then the lamp is extinguished. This happens in every Catholic Church after Holy Thursday Mass until the Easter Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday night.
Most parishes collect them the Sunday before Ash Wednesday to burn. The ashes they distribute on Ash Wednesday are old, blessed, burned palms. As with any blessed item you can either burn them, bury them, or take them to your church.

No, the definition of candle is "a cylinder or block of wax or tallow with a central wick that is lit to produce light as it burns" and the Church stipulates that candles for the Mass must be at least 51% beeswax. Now, an appliance that is made to look like a candle (that you are calling a battery operated candle) is not a candle, not made from beeswax, and does not burn, so it cannot be used. Which, however, does not stop some pastors from installing these monstrosities.
Jan Hus was burned at the stake in 1415. One of the early detractors of the Catholic faith. Much is written of the theological differences that caused his excommunication, but as with every phase of life, politics was the real cause... read the history of secular kings and their allegiences to Rome and Avignon.
