John the Baptist's ministry is believed to have lasted around one to two years, according to historical accounts and biblical references.
John the Baptist lived in the wilderness for an unspecified amount of time before beginning his ministry.
I believe he was 33 when he finished his earthly ministry.
A:We can not be sure when John the Baptist began his ministry, but the gospels say that he was baptising and preaching before Jesus began his ministry in 29 CE. Although the synoptic gospels say that John was imprisoned shortly after Jesus began his ministry, the Jewish historian, Josephus, makes it clear that John was imprisoned and executed in 35 or 36 CE for publicly criticising Herod Antipas' marriage in 34 CE to his own brother's former wife. On the basis of this limited information, John's ministry would have lasted at least six years.
What is known in the Bible was 1) Jesus started his ministry when he was thirty years old, 2) John was approximately six months younger than Jesus, and 3) John started his ministry before Jesus did, so John began preaching some time before his 30th birthday. It's not known how long John was preaching.
Elizabeth was long dead before Christ began his public ministry and founded the Church
>John the Baptist was six months older than Jesus when Herod made the decision to kill every male baby under the age of two for fear that a child from this age group would grow up and become King of the Jews and therefore displace him as King. Zacharias and Elizabeth the parents of John lived in the vicinity of Jerusalem which meant John was at risk of being murdered himself. Elizabeth stole John away and escaped to a mountainous area of Israel where he grew up in the wilderness and was raised on locusts and wild honey as his staple diet. John's father, Zacharias, was murdered by order of Herod near the alter in the Temple because he refused to disclose the whereabouts of his son(Matthew 23:35).> The Zacarias son of Berechias was NOT the father of John The Baptist, it was Zechariah in the Old Testament.
No one is sure as the Bible just doesn't say. But if we agree with some scholars that Jesus died in April 31 AD and His ministry was 3 1/2 years long or 4 Passovers - the last He died on, then He began His ministry at about 30 years of age. This would make it circa 27-28 AD.
If by 'author' you mean main character, then that was Jesus. His Father and He decided the details of His 3.5 year and 4 Passover Ministry long before it actually was.
His ministry lasted a total of three and a half years. From the baptisim to crucifiction.
