Destruction implies violence, and that's more the tendency of religious and other dogmatic people when they disagree with each other. Education is the key. The more educated people are, the more likely they are to be atheist. With information more freely available than ever before in history, it's probably only a matter of a few hundred years before religion is no longer a potent force in developed countries.

If you want to do your bit to help, just ask people questions and point out when they make mistakes in logic. Search the net for "logical fallacies".. every pro-religious argument contains at least one, and usually more.

Helping people to think is a constructive way to lessen religion in the world.

This depends entirely whether you are referring to eliminating the existence of a religion entirely or just from you local area. The latter would be much more a possibility in certain situations than the former, depending on which religion and why you believed they ought to be removed.

It is obviously impossible to remove a 'religion' and religious ideas from people unless you are able to persuade everyone from that religion they are wrong. In some cases you would need a great deal of contrary evidence to do so.

Most religions will respect people's rights to believe whatever they want, and will leave you alone if respectfully requested, although most, if not all, would also wish you to join them.
