How did Elizabeth 1 handle with religion?

As soon as she came to the throne she was faced with religious turmoil. England had now been under the rule of three different monarchs under different religions in under a decade. Edward VI was a protestant whereas Mary I was Catholic and Elizabeth I was a Protestant.

There were cultural developments due to the idea of the Renaissance. People gained more scientific development and interest. This meant Elizabeth could no longer control what people thought. This sort of development caused religious questioning.

When Queen Elizabeth I came into rule, her first task was to eliminate the religious feud. She reestablished the Church of England in 1559 and rejected the authority of Pope Pius V and he excommunicated her. However, this did not necessarily solve the religious problems in England. After Elizabeth's death and the death of her Protestant King James I, England broke into Civil War in 1642 and led to the assassination of King Charles I.
