By conquering it, he made it possible for his followers to join him in heaven. This is referred to also as the sting of death -what gives it power to hurt. 54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

He hasn't done so...yet. But He fully intends to.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Another answer He did it by dying on the cross for our sins so that we could have eternal life.
