If one very carefully reads the twenth-eight chapter of Ezekiel, particularly verses 12 through 19, Satan's, who was called Lucifer, origin, purpose, fall and destiny is given. Satan in this instance is refered to a the King of Tyrus and also the cherub that covereth. Satan is a created being, having had a very high rank in the heavenly host before his downfall and subsequent condemnation. Satan is not the mythical ruler of hell as is often portrayed but indeed is destined to be cast into the lake of fire and there suffer eternally even as all the reject Jesus as the Christ.
