Well some Christians believe that the devil is a fallen angle that led a rebellion against God and now he rules over hell and tempts mankind until the finally battle of Armageddon in which he'll be defeated by Christ and his followers. We're as other Christians believe that the devil hasn't been cast down yet and he tests men from Heaven with the consent of God like in the Book of Job, and that he will be cast down from Heaven eventually Rev 12:7-12 and after being cast down will raise to power on earth and in 7 years turn the world so sinful that God is force to end the world and cast the devil into a lake of fire to suffer forever Rev 21:10. Those are the 2 most popular ideas about the devil that Christians have. I personally think the second one is right having scripture to back it up.
