Waste, destroying land for resources, and rampant pollution should be frowned upon as destroying not just your home, but God's posession.
In a nonreligious way, we can view humanity as only one small part of a large portrait. Secular creationism tells us that we are the product of billions of years of creation and evolution. We are the crown-jewel of the Earth, since only humans have the power to completely destroy the Earth. In that way, we can understand that our ability to create and destroy gives humanity a special responsibility. We must accept that our actions have consequences that resonate in this world. And as the greatest organisms that have come of this Earth, we must understand our environment and bring it benefit while minimizing the damage.
