Roman Catholic AnswerThis is a huge subject, part of the mission of the Church is the Sacraments (paragraph 6 of the Catechism), and in paragraph 738 of the Catechism it says: "Thus the Church's mission is not an addition to that of Christ and the Holy Spirit, but is its sacrament: in her whole being and in all her members, the church is sent to announce, bear witness, make present, and spread the mystery of the communion of the Holy Trinity. However, the Church carries out this mission through the Sacraments individual which give the purpose, the grace, and the strength to carry out the mission of the Church, each in its proper sense starting with Baptism through which people enter the Church "as through a door" and the Blessed Eucharist "the source and summit of the Christian life" (Lumen Gentium 11). All the other sacraments are oriented towards the Blessed Eucharist, leading to it, or from it.
