If this is a new home (or new to you), I'd ask, did you do a cleansing and house blessing when you moved in? If not I'd remedy that as soon as possible.
If you have lived in the house for more than a year and this has just started, check to see if anyone in the household has "invited" something in. If so deal with that, if not, spend a bit of time and note, what, when, and where the things disappear.
It could be something as simple as being forgetful when you are in a hurry or stressed out... My friend's keys always go missing when he has to go deal with his sister-in-law. Sometimes there are non-mystical answers to these things.

Go to the doorway (of the house or the room) and as you are about to step over the threshold look over your left shoulder and in a firm voice (the one you use on large dogs and small children) say "Alright, put it back." and leave the room/house.
Return in about 10 minutes, after you have had time to calm down and be less frantic and start a methodical search. The item should be back... remember to say thank you and try making the "pixies" less inclined to play trick on you by leaving them treats.
