If you have a good bible it should contain not only an Index but also a Concordance (An index of all main words in a book along with their immediate contexts). May I sugest that you purchase a copy of the Mormon KJV of The Bible which contains all that you will need to look up any reference. You may even obtain one free if you call in at any LDS church or ask one of the Missionaries. There is no obligation to have to listen to what they have to say.
The KJV had added to it a concordance and a lenthy index. The printers said that it was the finest reference bible that they had ever printed.
You can check The Bible book name, its chapter, and verse number if we have the verse. It is easier to look it up if you have either the verse topic or the verse itself.

I'm not sure if anyone has the bible online or whatnot, but if you go to a book store and use a Thompson Chain Bible, they have indexes in the back where you can look up certain words, names, and phrases and it will list every verse with that.
