Be reverent when in church. Prepare yourself before going to church and understand, the reason you are going. Read some of the hymns in the hymn book. If you have to speak then whisper. Have a silent prayer. Sing a hymn in your mind. Have the parents with noisy children take them outside until they have quietened down. Give children soft toys to play with. Know that God is watching you in His house. From a Pagan perspective things are somewhat different.

Most of us do not go to a specific place in order to worship, nor do we have "clergy" to intercede for us with our gods.

Most of us do meditate or "pray" daily, and most of us have an Altar in our homes or personal space, set up with the symbols, images and tools of our practice. The Altar in my home has an ornate incense burner that I use as part of my preparation for worship. It also has candles which I light while calling the Elements and welcoming my Deities. If and when we gather (and in some cases we are solitary practitioners) we create our own sacred spaces. We do that by cleansing the area (by smudging or asperging), casting a "Circle", calling the Elements and welcoming the Deities, and then proceeding with our worship.

If we have guests we usually take the time in advance to help them understand what we are doing and to make them aware of our "Circle Etiquette". Adults within our Circle are expected to behave according to the etiquette, children and animals, as the "favoured of the gods" are not held to the "rules", we do not expect them to sit silently still or behave as small adults. The other thing we stress it that the gods love the sound of laughter, so there is nothing wrong with light-heartedness, and mirth in Circle where appropriate.

At the end of a Ritual we say our goodbyes to the Deities, dismiss the Elements and "ground' the energies of the Circle. We believe the gods are with us and in us at all times. Ideally, we Pagans try to carry our spirituality with us at all times, to live our chosen path by our thoughts and deeds. Like most humans we do occasionally fail, but that doesn't stop us from trying.
