Moses went up again on Mount Sinai to get fresh tablets of stone from God. Because he had broken the first tablets, God commanded him to prepare the new set of tablets himself; and then God inscribed the Ten Commandments on them (Deuteronomy ch.10).
God inscribed the Law on the first pair of tablets. When Moses came back down from the mountain, though, he discovered that the people had already broken the law and were sinning greatly. In anger Moses smashed the tablets. After this God commanded Moses to return to the mountain, create two more tablets of stone, and inscribe the Law on these replacements. Presumably Moses had memorized what was on the first tablets, or God told Moses what to write.
Moses received two tablets when he received the Ten Commandments.
When Moses came down from the mountain, the Israelites had turned away into terrible sin. Adultery, and such things. They had also melted down gold and made a Golden Calf and were worshipping it. At the site of this it, angered Moses, so much that he broke the two tablets (Ten Commandments). Because he broke the two tablets out of his anger, He traveled a second time up the mountain to get another pair of tablets. Hope, this answers your question. God bless.
Moses carries stone tablets which contain the Ten Commandments from God. The number of tablets varies with each version of the story, but it is usually only one or two tablets.
The answer to this can be found in Exodus 32. After receiving from God the tablets into which were carved the Ten Commandments, Moses came down from Mount Sinai. He found the Israelites worshipping an idol, since the people had given up on Moses ever returning. Moses threw the tablets to the ground and crushed them. He then mixed the crushed tablets with water and made the Israelites drink down the resulting mixture.

Moses was exceedingly humble (Numbers ch.12). God gave Moses the two Stone Tablets (Exodus 31:18).
Moses led them out of bondage by the Egyptians. He led them to a promised land. He gave them the commandments on tablets.
The first two tablets were broken by Moses.Additional Answer:But Moses went back up the mountain and received 2 New Tablets which were placed INSIDE the Ark of the Covenant.
Absolutely not. Originally, God wrote the ten commandments on two tables of stone (Exodus 31:18 - "written with the finger of God." and Exodus 32:16 - "And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables."). When Moses saw the people were doing lots of bad things, he smashed the tablets (Exodus 32:19). Moses had to cut two more tablets and go back to talk with God. This time, Moses had to create new tablets (Exodus 34:28).
God handed them to Moses, inscribed on the Two Stone Tablets (Exodus 31:18).
