Solomon built the temples of other gods in order to please his wives. Solomon's allowed his wives to move his focus away from our Father and toward their gods.
The Example for all Israel to observe Solomon was king and was supposed to set the example for all Israel Therefore he should have not taken wives outside the tribes of Israel. Further he should have never taught Israel it was acceptable to consider the gods of men

Even one that our Father loved dearly, who was very wise, he punished for breaking our Fathers law and for setting a poor example as king. Those that proclaim to be a Christian, have the responsibility to abide by our Fathers law - See 10 commandments
To proclaim ones self to be Christian and not abide by the law, causes others to fail assuming from that ones actions, its acceptable practice to walk contrary to that law. ... its not acceptable, and our Father shall hold one accountable for providing to others, false assumption.
Note: Following the system of prophecy, which was to spotlight and severely castigate any errors in God's eyes, Solomon is blamed as if he personally worshiped foreign gods (1 Kings, ibid), although it was actually only some of his foreign-born wives who did so (Talmud, Shabbat 56b). Solomon's error was in not supervising their households more carefully.
