How does the sin of Adam and Eve affect people today?

Christians believe their first sin (eating the fruit from the forbidden tree) caused humans to experience pain and suffering, as well as being embarrassed by their naked forms, among other things.

The Bible says that because of Adam's disobedience to God's direct command (Genesis 2:15-17 / Genesis 3:6-13), he and all his descendants would now be subject to death(Genesis 3:19). They would now be born into a sinful state (Psalm 51:5)(Job 14:4) and would suffer from imperfection, sickness and death(Romans 5:12) until the Messiah came to provide the ultimate sacrifice that would 'pay the ransom'(Matthew 20:28)(Ephesians 1:7) (Isaiah 53:5,10,12)(Deuteronomy 19:21), save man from their sinful state(Romans 5:15,18+19)and return earth and it's inhabitants to everlasting life, in a perfect state, as originally purposed (John 3:16/ John 17:3 / (Isaiah 45:18)(Genesis 1:28)(Genesis 9:1)(Psalm 37:29 / Matthew 5:5)(Psalm 115:16)

Saint Augustine of Hippo developed the notion of original sin, which he said was the consequence of the sin of Adam and Eve. This doctrine was never part of Jewish belief, was never adopted by the Orthodox Churches and has largely been rejected by the Protestant Churches, but is an important doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church.

So, if Catholics are right, we all bear the pain of an apparently inconsequential sin committed by Adam and Eve. Apart from a few Protestant and related denominations, everyone else dismisses this doctrine or, at most, gives it little thought. If they are right (along with those who, for various reasons, do not believe Adam and Eve ever really existed), then the sin has no effect on people today.
