The Sunday before Easter, Palm Sunday, is an important day in Haiti. People dress in their very best to attend mass, during which blessed palms are given out. Palms can be seen hanging up in many homes during Holy Week across the country.

Good Friday is a legal holiday. Haitians believe their homes must be clean for the Lord to enter, so Saturday is spent cleaning homes spotlessly. Marches are organized in which people parade through the streets praying and reciting the Rosary.

Most of the residents attend church on Easter Sunday. Feasts of turkey or duck are served when Easter is over, marking the end of abstaining from meat for many.
