Jesus had 12 diciples.
First they went into hiding, but later they went in many ways to spread the word of god.
Some disciples of Jesus Christ become Missionaries and risk their lives going to countries who hate Christians to tell them about the only Savior of the world. Many of these Missionaries have been killed.
Jesus chose 12 disciples, but everyone can be his disciple - see John 8.31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. But Jesus has to choose you - see John.15.16 - Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
As apostles of Jesus Peter, James, and John witnessed many miracles and teachings when they were with Jesus. They were called by Jesus to follow him and witness, first hand, the teachings that Jesus had to share. These men are considered part of Jesus' inner circle because they were some of the closest to him and made some of the biggest impacts to Christianity.
In Matthew 13 there are six parables of the kingdom of heaven that Jesus told; which is a good place to start reading of the many stories of Jesus
Matthew presents Jesus as the promised messiah. The Old Testament gave many prophesies regarding Jesus and so Matthew reveals Jesus as the promised messiah. Mark presents Jesus as a servant. In many instances you will find Jesus serving others. He even went as far as washing His diciples feet, a job that was reserved for a servant. Luke presents Jesus as the son of man. He is God and at the same time he was born of a virgin (Mary). Jesus is both God and man. So Luke focuses his attention on the Man side of Jesus (Son of man).
Jesus went to heaven after coming back from the dead and showing his diciples to continue to preach for him. JESUS WENT TO HEAVEN.The Orthodox position:Jesus descended into Hades (or hell) after His death, but before He ascended into Heaven. This was done in order to break the bonds of Satan and death, since Jesus has the keys to Hades (Revelation 1:18). This event caused the earth to quake and the graves to open and many people who had died were raised from the dead (Matthew 27:51-54).Icons of the Resurrection or Descent into Hades, depict Jesus taking the keys to Hades with Him to show that He has power over Satan and power over the living and the dead.
