Abu Bakr's caliphate is regarded by historians as a successful one. During his time as Caliph, he put down all the false prophets by waging wars against them. He also forced all those who refused to pay Zakat to pay and crushed the hypocrites who abandoned Islam, upon the demise of Muhammad.
The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) had Mi'raj (Ascension). He narrated his Ascension to the people in the morning. Some of them came to Hazrat Abu-Bakr (R.A) and said, that have you listened your friend Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W.W)? He claimed that he visited Jerusalem and the sublime Throne in the heavens last night and talked with Allah. Hazrat Abu-Bakr immediately replied."If He said then its absolute truth". They again said "Do you believe that he visited all these places and come back within a small part of night?" He again replied."Ofcourse I believe in it and I believe in the things which are farther than it. For this the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) gave the title of "Siddque" i.e the honest one.
He was the first slave to become a Muslim, the second male convert after Hazrat Abu Bakr. He was also the first muezzin of Islam and was chosen by the Prophet himself. He announced the Azaan at the roof of The Kaabah once the Conquest of Makkah had taken place. The Prophet himself had stated after his miraj journey "I heard the footsteps of Bilal in paradise."
