Can you ask the Mormon missionaries to take off shoes?

Of course! If you invite the missionaries into your home, you may ask them to take off their shoes. Many people do not allow shoes in their homes, so this is something that missionaries are asked to do quite often.

How many Mormon missionaries are in Europe?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) only releases information regarding the total number of missionaries and not numbers relating to specific areas. The total number of missionaries serving as of January 1, 2014 was over 80,000. If you need to know numbers for a specific area, you must contact the Church's public affairs department.

Do all Mormon woman wear skirts and dresses?

No, definitely not. Female members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) are not required to wear skirts and dresses - most Mormon women wear pants for their regular activities, except in some countries where dresses for women are the norm. (Many nations in Africa frown on women in pants)Within Mormon culture, skirts and dresses are considered the most appropriate attire for worship services and other church meetings as a sign of respect, but those in pants will not be turned away. The only Mormon women who are required to wear pants are female missionaries, who adhere to a strict dress code. Female missionaries, or "sisters" must wear skirts when preaching or proselytizing, except in certain areas where mosquito-borne illnesses make pants a safer choice. Sisters may wear pants when exercising or performing community service. In short, Mormon women usually only wear skirts or dresses to church or when preaching as missionaries. Your average Mormon woman (including me!) is wearing pants right now.Click to see photos for examples of what Mormon women would wear:Mormon Sister Missionaries in Pants (2016)Mormon Sister Missionaries in Belgium(2013)Sister Missionaries guidelines for pants(exercise and service)Typical Mormon women dressed for church(2015)Mormon woman leaving church in pants(2012)Mormon Women in PeruTypical Mormon women in California (2012)Typical Mormon women in Atlanta, Georgia(2010)Mormon women dressed for church in Utah(2015)

Do the Mormon values play a part at the university of Utah?

Approximately 40% of University of Utah students are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church). While the University of Utah is by no means a conservative school, the culture there is sometimes affected by the large proportion of Mormon students. Most of the Mormon students live off-campus and do not participate a great deal in on-campus events. The Mormon Church itself has no influence over the school, but there is a large Institute of Religion across the street from Huntsman Center which provides religious classes, worship services, and activities such as dances and parties. The Institute is open to everyone, and many Mormon students choose to participate in the Institute activites rather than the school-sponsered activities.

Is Weber State a Mormon university?

As it's name implies, Weber State University is a state university. It is a public university operated by the state and has absolutely no affiliation with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church). Many Mormons do attend there, as it is located in an area that is approximately 60% Mormon.

What do missionaries teach?

This depends entirely on the type of missionaries they are and what organization sent them. Many missionaries are church-planting or proselyting, meaning that they were sent by a church or ministry in order to gain converts to that faith organization. These missionaries will teach the doctrines and practices of their sending organization while supporting or building a local congregation. Other missionaries are service missionaries and focus their teaching and service in areas such as health care, education, farming, or building. Many missionaries do both service and preaching. As an example of what some missionaries might teach, look at the following links:Living Word Missions Missionary ManualHope Mission Trips Evangelism ResourcesUnited Methodist Missionary Training ManualEvangelical Covenant Church Missions ManualPreach my Gospel: Manual for Mormon MissionariesManual for Episcopal Youth Missions

Is the Book of Mormon wrong?

That is up for you to decide. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) believe that the Book of Mormon is scripture, that it testifies of Jesus Christ, and that it should be used side-by-side with the Bible. Many who are not Mormon, however, believe that the Book of Mormon is a total fraud and that it is an abomination. Mormons ask that anyone interested should read the Book of Mormon, sincerely pray to God asking if it is true, and make their own decision about whether it is a true scriptural account, or whether it is false. They believe that this personal witness is essential, and that each person should know for themselves. If you would like to read the Book of Mormon and form your own opinion, visit the "Related Links" below. Here you may read a digital version of the Book of Mormon, listen to it on MP3, purchase a copy, or request a free copy to be brought by the missionaries. Mormon missionaries also offer to meet with you (free of charge) to help you study and understand the Book of Mormon.
