Day by day, God created the universe and its contents (Genesis ch.1).God created the universe out of nothing (Exodus 20:11, Isaiah 40:28; Rashi commentary to Genesis 1:14; Maimonides' "Guide," 2:30).Note that the Torah, in describing the Creation, deliberately employs brevity and ellipsis, just as it does in many other topics. See the Talmud, Hagigah 11b.

• On day 1: God created the universe in general, light, and this Earth. The light was not the same as that of the sun. Rather, it was light that God created before the sun, and which emanated from a point in space without any physical source; like what we might term a "white hole."
  
• On day 2: God created the separation between the Earth and the upper atmosphere.
  
• On day 3: God separated the continents from the oceans, and created plants.
  
• On day 4: God created the sun, moon, and stars.

God created everything. There is nothing that God didn't create. This is clearly specified in:

Exodus 20:11 (King James Version) 11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it

According to the Genesis creation account the creation by God was 'ex nihilo' that is, out of nothing. The Hebrew word bara: 'to create' is only used of creation by God and it signifies:

'...creation out of nothing, an idea seen clearly in passages having to do with creation on a cosmic scale:"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (Gen.1:1; cf.Gen 2:3;Isa. 40:26; 42:5). All other verbs for "creating" allow a much broader range of meaning; they have both divine and human subjects, and are used in contexts where bringing something or someone into existence is not the issue.'

While the Genesis 1 creation account clearly teaches that not only did 'the heaven and the earth' have a beginning and thus were not pre-existent, but the rest of The Bible witness (which is, after all the proper context within which to discuss the whole subject) also testifies and supports the view of Genesis 1. The listing in Genesis 1 is clearly conveying the idea that God created everything that is. He did not use pre-existing matter but 'spoke and it was created.' The Bible does not here attempt to list or describe the entire creation but general groupings which signify the main areas of creative activity.

Summary: Thus it is clear that not just in Genesis 1 but throughout the whole Bible God is the original creator of everything that exists. There is nothing He didn't make.

According to Genesis, God did not quite create everything. The first creation account (Genesis 1:!-2:4a) says that the things that God made were: (in chronological order) light, the firmament, grasses and trees, the sun, moon and stars, fish, land creatures and fowl, man (both male and female).
The second (but older) creation account (from Genesis 2:4b) only says that he made Adam, then the creatures of earth, one by one, and finally Eve.
Neither account says that God made the earth or the seas, although the first account says that he drew the waters together on day 3, thus leaving the dry land.
It may seem surprising that, in both creation stories, the basics were already there - the waters, the dry land, the wind and therefore the air. Many experts in Hebrew have carefully examined the texts and confirm that this is what they say. The biblical creations were not ex nihilo.
