Torah-outlook teaches that one of the central purposes of life (or THE central purpose) is to be tested. This can come from internal tests (do I believe, do I covet, etc.), or from external tests (following someone's bad influence). The more that is expected of a person, the more difficult will be the tests he/she has to withstand. God sent tough tests to try the Israelites; for example: going three days without water (Exodus ch.15); or having to live adjacent to the very worst of the idolaters (Leviticus ch.18). In some cases, some of the Israelites did not withstand temptation (Judges ch.1).
It was the Lord God of Israel who helped the Philistines when they attacked Judah. Judah was in Israel at that time, and when the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord and served other Gods, the Lord was angry against Israel and sold them into the hands of the Philistines. (Judges 10,6,7)
In mid-evil times it would be a lord or castellan
According to the Books of Kings, written in the southern kingdom, Judah, every king of the northern kingdom, Israel, was absolutely polytheistic. If the term 'godly' is meant to imply service to the God of Judaism, then the evidence is that Israel and its kings were certainly not godly.
Jealousy is never a good thing. It's very evil in the sight of the Lord. You'll have success once you overcome it.
Yes, frequently. It would take hours to compile all the references similar to the following:Judges 2:11, 12 - Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served the Baals; and they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt; and they followed other gods from among the gods of the people who were all around them, and they bowed down to them; and they provoked the Lord to anger. [NKJV]Each time they did worship pagan gods, it was a departure from God and the practice was not accepted by Him.

Exodus 22:18* "You shall not permit a sorceress to live.19* "Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death.20* "He who sacrifices to any god, except to the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.21* "You shall neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.22* "You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.23 "If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry;Deuteronomy 18:10* There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,11* Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.15* The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;2 Kings18:16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.17* And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.18* Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.20 And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.21 For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;23 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.and there are many many other passages, nothing less than a whole Bible in context, will make a man whole... Ian
