Edit: I think it's worth noting that Jesus never used the word 'hate' in the context of hating people. He did use the word hate in the context of his followers being hated because of Him. But even in the last 2 verses posted here, He mentions that He hates the deeds and the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, not the Nicolaitans. Many see the word 'hate' in The Bible as a license to do just that. However, we are never given that permission, not with people anyway. ;)
