The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with 6 million members in the United States and 14 million members world-wide will excommunicate any member that practices polygamy. That is the official church position and has been so since the Mandate to stop the practice in 1890.
Latter-day Saints before 1890 were allowed to practice polygamy because they believed the Lord had commanded it. Studies show that 25% to 50% of Mormon men took multiple wives, most had 2 or 3 wives but some higher leaders had as many as 30.
