At last count, Warren Jeffs had 87 wives. Jeffs claimed to have been told by God that he would acquire 100 wives by years end in 2006, unfortunately for him, he was arrested on child abuse charges and never reached his prophesied goal. The term wife is misleading. Since polygamy is illegal in all fifty states, a man can legally have only one wife. Many men are also assigned very young girls to take as "Heavenly Comfort Wives". Warren had many wives who were between the ages of 12 and 16, the practice of which is simply arranged sexual abuse of a child.
According to the trial of Warren Jeffs, he had 79 total wives. 24 were under the age of 16 with 12 of those being 14 and under. He is serving a sentence in prison of life plus 20 years for raping a 12 year old and a 14 year old.

The FLDS polygamist community is also brought up again in the ninth episode of the fourth season, called "Sister Wives on the Ropes." Opposing the Browns in the debate are members of different polygamist groups, including one from the Warren Jeffs community.
