Consider these facts:

  • There is no evidence that there is a heaven anywhere for any religion. This means that no matter what you do there is no eternal "heaven" to go to.
  • Most religions that do have a heaven have criteria which prohibit members of other faiths from passing the tests to get into heaven. So you have to choose the right faith and the right god to worship out of the thousands of potential options.
  • If you accept that there is a heaven (step one), and luck into the right religion (step two). You have to follow the rules which are generally pretty poorly defined in all religions. Failure to do the correct thing because you didn't understand isn't acceptable.
  • You might also consider if you actually want to go to heaven. Taking the Christian heaven as an example there is no food, no sex, no free time, no friendship and potentially none to talk to. Your only activity is praising god all day and that lasts forever.
