Jesus taught us the order in which we should pray in Matthew 6:9-14. The prayer found here is simply an outline, teaching us we should pray with God's interests before our own, ie for his will to be done on earth. Many believe that God hears all prayers, but the bible indicates the very opposite. At Isaiah 1:15 (NWT), God states, "Even though you make many prayers, I am not listening, with bloodshed your very hands have become filled." That being said there are requirements we must meet if we want our prayers to be heard by God. First we need to exercies faith. Jesus said at Mark 11:24 "All the things you pray and ask for, have faith that you have pratically received, and you will have them" (NWT) Second, we must approach God with humility and sincerity. After all, we are approaching the Almighty God and we should want to give him the respect we would anyone else in a position of authority. (Genesis 17:1) Another requirement for being heard by God is that we work in harmony with our prayers. We should never pray for God to give us something that we are not willing to work for. If we pray for him to "give us this day our daily bread" than we must work hard at any job we are able to perform in order to receive that. (2 Thessalonians 3:10)
