Bible Answer:

(Genesis 2:7) ". . .And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."(KJV)

(Genesis 2:21, 22) ". . .Then the Lord God cast a deep sleep upon Adam: and when he was fast asleep, he took one of his ribs, and filled up flesh for it. And the Lord God built the rib which he took from Adam into a woman: and brought her to Adam." (DRA)

Man was created from the dust of the Earth. God breathed life into him and he became a living being with an eternal soul and spirit. Woman was created from one of the Man's ribs - hence the name "Woman" - from Man.

Of course not every one believes in Adam and Eve, some people believe in the theory of evolution meaning that we evolved from other life forms. This has been a question for the ages, so we will probably never know in our life time., as long as people do not shove religion down each other's throats we can all believe what we want to believe!

The answer has been known to man for over 2000 years, he just refuses to believe it. No one in the history of the human race has ever or can ever come up with a better explanation.
