The questioner is missing something basic and profoundly important. In the US, the laws of the land apply to everyone, regardless of one's religion. Yes, there are gray areas, and there are prejudices here [in the US]. But ultimately, an appeal to the law will proceed independent of the religious practice of the one making the appeal. On the same hand, no religious law supercedes the civil law, nor should it. It will be our doom the day that any religious law takes any authority, even the slightest bit, over the Constitution.
