Answer 1

Teach them both theories and allow them to choose for themselves what they would like to believe!

Answer 2

Unfortunately, there are no simple solutions for such a conundrum. As parents, you both have and feel the obligation to teach your children what you think is right and true. Whether or not creationists can be blamed for their refusal to learn why evolutionary theory is indeed the best explanation for life's diversity as demonstrated by our observations in Biology is almost irrelevant to the real issue: that they do believe that creationism is right and true, and not evolution.

You have no alternative then, but to hope that your ex-wife is a reasonable person, and that you can manage to impart as many independent and critical thinking skills and as much knowledge on them as is necessary for them to find out for themselves why creationism is not a rational attitude.

What are the two kinds of Creationism?

The two main kinds of Creationism are young Earth Creationism, which believes in a literal interpretation of the Bible and asserts that the Earth is only a few thousand years old, and old Earth Creationism, which accepts scientific evidence for the age of the Earth but still believes in a divine creator.

Is there any contradiction between science and religion?

Yes...I suppose there are many contradictions. On of the biggest one is Evolution vs. Creationism. Science believes in the Theory of Evolution which is saying that all complex organisms developed from simpler organism. Most religions, believe in Creationism, which is that God designed and created everything.

What is Richard Dawkins' view on Creationism?

Richard Dawkins is the Charles Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science, at Oxford University. In this position, he clearly has a sound understanding of scientific issues such as evolution and the creation of the universe. This has led him to believe that Creationism is inherently untrue. Since his role is to advance the public understaning of Science, he has written books such as The God Delusion(Bantam Press, 2006) to explain his views.I think that Professor Dawkins sees Creationism as dependently linked to religious belief. Where he views Creationism to contend with Science, which he asserts is quite often, Dawkins prefers to focus on the inherent failure of the underlying religious belief rather than simply demonstrating the error of the Creationist belief and leaving the proponent to continue in his or her religious beliefs. The debate around creationism and evolution is more fully covered in: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation

What is Mitt Romney's view on teaching evolution?

Mitt Romney believes that God created the universe, and evolution is the mechanism He used to create humans. Romney believes that science classes should have evolution taught, not creationism or intelligent design. He states that they are perfectly fine in a philosophy, religion, or history classroom. This is his view from 2008. It seems that he has been relatively quiet on this issue since he started running for the Republican nomination.

What is Old Earth creationism?

Old-earth creationism is a form of creationism opposite to young-earth creationism. The central tenet of old-earth creationism is that the Earth is as old as scientific evidence says it is, at around 4.5 billion years. Old-earth creationism comes in three main forms but the main goal is to reconcile the authority of the Bible with the relatively new authority of modern science. It has become increasingly popular amongst Christianity over the past century as accumulating scientific evidence forced many churches to reconsider their previous interpretation of Genesis. Old-earth creationism and evolution is accepted by the Catholic Church as well as many mainstream Protestant churches. All old-earth creationists accept that the Earth is about 4.5 billion years old, and the Universe about 13.7, but have varying views on the specific development of the Earth and life. These are the three main views.Progressive creation: God developed the Universe, Earth, and life through divine acts over millions to billions of years, allowing some forms of evolution to occur, but directly intervening to create new life at key points in Earth's history. Purely naturalistic evolution cannot account for the complexity and diversity of life.Theistic evolution: Acceptance that evolution is the process by which life developed, but that God was a guiding force in this process. Through evolution God let all forms of life appear over time.Gap creation: This view is based on the belief that there is a "gap" in time between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. Earth is as old as science says it is, but was destroyed at one point by God, only to be recreated in six, 24-hour days. This belief is much less popular than it once was.The opposing view is young-earth creationism, which is based on a literal interpretation of Genesis and believes that the Earth is only around 6,000 years old.
