Thessalonians were citizens of the seaport capital of Macedonia called Thessalonica, which was an important trade center for the many goods either coming from or going to Rome. Known today as Salonika (officially called Thessaloniki), it is the second largest city in Greece and the principal city of the Greek portion of the Macedonia region.

You may have written Thessalonia because of the three letters the Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonians.
