Who cares? Anyhow, some say "his mother's grandfather was jewish". But that doesn't prove anything - it's the maternal bloodline that has to be jewish. Was his mother's grandMOTHER jewish? I haven't seen any info for or against it.

Actually, Israel allows those whose paternal grandparent is Jewish to become citizens of Israel with full acknowledgment. This is a change from the old policy of maternal heritage being required.

With the growing tension in the MidEast, it could make a huge difference if a nuclear nation like Russia is headed by a Jew or at least a man with Jewish sympathies.

On the other hand, many of the Russian Mafia leaders are also Jews who hold a Dual Citizenship with Russia and Israel.
