Revelation 1:7. "Every eye shall see him" is only possible in a flat earth.

A:No. There have been literally hundreds of prophecies of the return of Jesus and none of them ever came true, yet people continue to yearn for his return. Strangely, after some two thousand years, these yearnings and expectations are always that Jesus will return within the present generation.

The world will go on for thousands and then millions of years. As long as there is still a Christian religion on earth, people will continue to yearn for his imminent return, but these expectations will never be fulfilled.

Generally, Muslims believe that Jesus is still living in the body in the Heaven and that he will appear just before the Final Day , after the coming of the Mahdi, when the world will be purified of sin and unbelief. There will be a final death before the final Resurrection, but all will have believed before that final death.

However, Muslims believe that Jesus (Peace be upon him) was not crucified. They believe that the enemies of Jesus (peace upon him) plotted and planned to crucify Jesus. However, God miraculously saved Jesus and raised him up to Him (to God). God, the all-powerful and the all capable, put the likeness of Jesus (peace upon him) over another man. The enemies of Jesus (peace upon him) thought that this other man is Jesus and they took him and crucified him.

Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall be always with the Lord." Not only this, there are signs that Jesus is coming again very soon. In Luke 21:25-28 it says, "And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves raring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectations of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near." Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in South Asia, the second Gulf War, unrest in many Middle Eastern nations, controversy over immigration policies, sickness and death, these increased maladies point to one thing. I believe that most that are alive today will see the second coming, probably between now and the end of 2012. I have not heard anyone else say it, I just see the world moving toward what the Bible says will be in the last days, as in the days of Noah. We have the ability now to spread the gospel throughout the world via the internet to all nations as referenced as the main sign given by Jesus above. There are many other things prophesied (told us by the Spirit of God) in the Bible, but these two are plenty for me to know that it is time to prepare the bride of Christ for His return.

Paul believed that Jesus would return in his own lifetime and taught his followers to be ready for Jesus' return. When the Thessalonians expressed concern for their friends who had already died while waiting, he gave them an assurance that the dead would be caught up in the air along with those then still living (1 Thessalonians 4:15): "For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep." Of course, this event did not happen during Paul's lifetime nor the lifetimes of those to whom he made this promise.

Next came Mark's Gospel, influenced by Paul's epistles. Mark chapter 13 talks of the return of Jesus, again within present lifetimes. The accurate description of the First Roman-Jewish War and of the civil war that raged within Jerusalem at the time of the Roman siege, were portrayed as heralding this event in the very near future. Once again, Jesus did not return, and the later gospels altered Mark's passage to have a somewhat different meaning focussed on the indeterminate future.

Over the centuries since, and into the twenty-first century, there have hundreds of prophecies of Jesus' imminent return. None has proved true. We can confidently say that Jesus will not return during our lifetimes or the lifetimes of our grandchildren. In fact Jesus is unlikely ever to return - this is simply a biblical legend.
