My granddad only went to church on Easter and Christmas. He always thought it was enough. Going to church is simply showing up to celebrate and praise God with your parish community. Praying is always good, and do your best to live the way Jesus wanted you to and carry out his will. Church is certainly not the only way to do good and please God. It is not the only thing you should do, but it is one of the many things you can do.

Why was Catholic Reform not enough in the Reformation era?

The Catholic Reform was more than enough in the "Reformation era", it just wasn't "enough" for the protestants, as the Catholic Church is incapable of being anything other than the Catholic Church. As the Catholic Church is the Body of Christ and guaranteed by Him, and guided by the Holy Spirit, it is always enough.
