The word hell is found in many bible translations. In the same verses other translations read the grave, the world of the dead and so forth. The word Hell, the Hebrew Sheol and its Greek equivalent ha ides all refer to the common grave of mankind. However both in the Christendom and in many non Christian religions it is taught that Hell is a place inhabited by demons and where the wicked after death are punished. This is not a bible teaching.

The Bible indicates that the dead do not experience pain Ecclesiastes 9:5,10(the living are conscious that they will die but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all. If they are conscious of nothing how will they feel pain of fire?

Again in Acts 2:25-27 speaks concerning Jesus that he went to Hell, if Hell is actually a place of torment Jesus as a righteous man should not have been there. The man Job pleaded at the height of his suffering pleaded that he should go hell. God purpose is not to burn people in hell but he promises that the wicked will be destroyed forever and the righteous will inherit the earth forever.
