The primary reason he gave us this command is because He does not lie, He is always faithful. The law reveals His character, and when we compare His perfect character to our corrupt character it reveals our need for a savior. This is where God's will comes in. Roman's 10 tells us that it is God's will that everyone repent of their sin and believe the gospel that Jesus died on the cross in our place, as the punishment for our sin, and was raised again. Anyone who does this will be saved.
