If they were, how would anyone know?

Answer

Of course not. I'm afraid you have been reading too many Dan Brown novels! The evidence for the death of Jesus on the Cross is so overwhelming that it is ludicrous to think that any organisation could cover it up. There are many, many ancient documents (and not just the Gospel accounts) that confirm details of Jesus' life, death and resurrection, that any preposterous 'cover up' idea is totally impossible. But then some will believe anything - even that Elvis is alive and well and working in Wall-Mart.
