No. This is not true. All evidence show that the Qur'an could not have been copied from The Bible. Take for example the story of the flood that occurred in the days of the prophet Noah, on whom be peace. This event is narrated in both the Bible and the Qur'an. A careful examination of the two versions will show that the Qur'anic version could have come from no other source but God alone. One important difference between the two accounts is that whereas the Bible describes the flood as a worldwide flood (see Genesis Ch. 7) the Qur'an mentions it as a local flood affecting the people of Noah (see Qur'an 7:59-64). Today it is acknowledged that no record exists of a worldwide flood occurring at the time specified in the Bible. How did the author of the Qur'an avoid this mistake unless the author was God Himself?

The closest thing in history to a flood like the one described in the Bible and the Qur'an, is a discovery made by Archaeologist Sir Charles Leonard Wooley. In 1929 he discovered remains from a flood which occurred around 4000 BC. His findings are described in the book entitled The Bible as History by Werner Keller.

Keller tells us: "The incredible discovery at Ur made headline news in the United States and in Britain" (The Bible as History, 2nd Revised Edition, Bantam Books, 1980, p.27). But was this a worldwide flood? After describing the extent of the flood, Keller explains; "Looking at the map we should call it today 'a local occurrence"' (p.28). "In other words." writes Keller. that flood was "obviously not of sufficient magnitude for the Biblical Flood" (p.29). Furthermore, he says; "A flood of the unimaginable extent described in the Bible still remains 'archaeologically not demonstrated" (pp.29-30).

Another comparison will again demonstrate that the Qur'an was not copied from the Bible. In the Bible we are told that God drowned the Pharaoh and his army when they pursued Moses, on whom be peace, and his people (see Exodus 14:28). The clear indication in that description is that the body of the Pharaoh perished in the sea. However, the Qur'an dared to differ and prove true. In the Qur'an we find that God promised to preserve the body of the Pharaoh as a sign for later generations (see Qur'an 10:90-92).

True to the Qur'anic promise, the mummified body of the Pharaoh was discovered by Loret in 1898 at Thebes in the Kings' Valley (see The Bible, the Qur'an and Science by Dr. Maurice Bucaille, p.238). From there it was transported to Cairo. Elliot Smith removed its wrappings on July 8,1907 and gave a detailed description in his book entitled the Royal Mummies (19l2).

From which source did the author of the Qur'an derive this information? How did the author of the Qur'an know that the Pharaoh's body was preserved whereas the knowledge that the ancient Egyptians mummified their dead was not discovered until recently? And how could the author of the Qur'an predict that the body of the Pharaoh will be discovered later, unless the author was God Himself?

Basically the thing is that the Quran did not come from bible or other holy books.But the source of all the holy books is the same.The only difference is that people throug the centuries have changed the wordings of the holy books but the wording of the quran have not been changed.you can bring the oldest of quran and match all the wordings of new compilations it is all the same from word to word.

Both the Quran and The Bible talk about certain Old Testament figures like Adam and Eve, Abraham, Enoch etc, but the Bible says that Jesus is the only way to the Father (or the only way to get to Heaven) and the Quran does not.

There are other similarities, but there are a LOT of differences as well!

Many questions refer to the "Christian" Bible... presumably meaning the Old Testament and the New -- with stress on the "New."

While the New Testament is rife with Old Testament scriptures... when Muhammad lived, there was no New Testament, or "Christian" Bible.

There was only what must then be coined, the "Jewish" Bible [the Old Testament; 'tongue-in-cheek'].

As for the "Jewish" Bible... yes, Muhammad lifted a number of scriptures straight from it, He believed he was correcting and getting right what the Jews [and Christians, who were also teaching straight out of the same "Jewish/Christian" (???) Bible] had perverted and misrepresented.

The Qur'an's treatment of the birth of Jesus, for example, refers to a Christian tradition that was suppressed when the Nativity Story, borrowed from Zoroastrian Mithraism, was instituted in its place. Most of the Quran is based on the Biblical account. However, Quran's account differs greatly from the historical accounts of the Bible.

Quran also contains the stories of Jewish and Christian nature of that time. During Mohammad's time, many people accused him of repeating these stories as revelation from Allah (Quran 8:31, 16:24, 25:5, 27:68, 46:17, 68:15). Some of the examples of the fables of that time found in Quran from non-canonical Christian writings are:

1) Quran mentions the story of Satan and his conflicts with Adam and God (7:11-12). This was mentioned in the Gospel of Bartholomew written in 3rdcentury A.D.

2) Quran mentions an altered version of Mary's betrothal to Joseph (3:44). This was mentioned in the gospel of the Birth of Marywritten before the 4thCentury A.D.

3) Quran mentions Jesus speaking from cradle (3:36, 5:110 & 19:29-34). This was written in The First Infacy Gospel Of Jesus Christ (1:1-3).

4) Quran mentions Child Jesus making a clay bird and giving life (3:39, 5:110). This was written two sources - Infancy Gospel of Thomas (A.D. 150) and Gospel of the Infancy of Jesus Christ (15:1-7).

None of these stories are mentioned in the Bible.

The Qur'an is not so much copied from the Bible, but clearly based on it. There were already many Jews and Christians living around Mecca and Medina by the time of Muhammad and even his cousin was a Christian. Muhammad had ready access to the teachings of these older religions.

If the Bible is shown not to be true on fundamental issues, then the Qur'an must also be untrue.
