The soul being the seat of the personality, is expressed through the vehicles of body with the physical world and spirit with the spiritual world. In that sense, I suppose it is duality, so I certainly don't disagree there. Our physical needs can be, but are not necessarily at war with our spiritual, as much as they are simply desires which must be brought into submission (as paul talks about beating his body into submission) - much like breaking a horse, at which point power under control becomes fruitful and constructive, as opposed to unfocused, chaotic, and destructive.
