There are three holy cities to the Muslims. In order of merit they are:

1. Mecca (Makka) situated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is the holiest city because Hazrat Abraham (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismaiel (AS) rebuilt Ka'aba where he and his followers performed Hajj. The last Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (SAW) was born here. He spent 53 years of his life here. The Muslims from all over the world come to this city to perform Hajj every year.

2. The second holy city is Madina Munawara. Holy Prophet (SAW) migrated to this city (previously known as Yadhrab) and established Islamic State here. He is buried here.

3. Jerusalem is the third holy city. Many Prophets lived here and are buried here. The Muslims used to offer their prayer facing it for many years nbefore they were commanded by Almighty God to face the holy Ka'aba. Masjid Al-Aqsa is situated here. From this city the holy Prophet SAW) ascended to his journey to heavens.
