Should Christians always tell the truth?

Yes christians should always tell the truth.

It all depends upon on the situation you are in.Sometimes telling the truth as god commands you to do can bring you a whole lot more trouble and grief than just telling a simple lie. An example of this logic is say,you see someone commit a crime and the police ask you if you saw them do it now of course your going to tell the truth and you would be right to do so and the worse that happens is you have to show up in court and testify,so it was worth telling the truth.

Now say your girlfriend or wife who is overweight says to you "Do you think my butt is big and fat?" should you tell her the truth as you are commanded to do and say "yes you do have a big fat butt" and take a chance that she will start crying and/or get mad at you and accuse you of being a mean,inconsiderate and uncaring jerk or would you lie and say "no your butt is not big or fat"?

There are times when a lie is required and the truth should not be told a few such examples are when people ask

"Isn't this babies face just so cute?" and to you the child is ugly.

"do I look fat?" and to you the person is FAT

"do you think I'm pretty?" and the person is not physically appealing to you at all.

"do you like my suit/dress?" and its the ugliest thing you have seen since the 70's

"don't you just adore my new shoes?" and to you those shoes look like they came off a circus clown..

So to follow biblical law and go around telling the truth all the time you will definitely hurt the feelings of other people and probably be labeled as a mean,rude, spitefull, nasty, uncarring and disrespectful person and probably will not have very many friends even among the christians...
