The Social significance of religion and spirituality is this : one it helps you to have a better understanding of the other person's character if they are able to be true to what they believe. 2) If you don't know what they believe then it can be a problem if you find yourself getting 'romantically' and emotionally attached and then learn what they really believe is so opposite of what you really want to have in a person. 3) It can affect your future and your ability to think clearly if you have to decide not to continue on with that person too. Religion to me is the study of what man has attempted to do to reach out to God, and there are many religions in this world that try to do just that and are not successful in the process though they may give an outer illusion of doing so. In the meanwhile spirituality can also be confused with religion, as it is an element of such. But it can have a positive understanding as well. Only choices really are : God's plan for man and man's attempts to reach God, i.e. human efforts of spirituality. When God reaches out to man and HE has done that in Jesus the Christ, through His Word The Bible, to tell us His story, and the Story of Creation in the process if you read it from the very beginning and all the way through it is truly the only Amazing Truth that can be trusted, believed and relied upon as no other can be. There are many different versions of the Bible, some have been done by the 'christian cults' who want to pass off as being Christian, and it takes a lot of discernment to know the difference, as young and immature Christians who don't have the kind of teaching and guidance that is needed to keep them from the ones who are of the cults will fall into that false religion. That is why it is so important to have a solid understanding of the Scriptures and not get caught up in the false teachings as they have a lot of 'half truths' and not the whole truth, which is very deceptive and can lead many astray who don't know the difference. So there is good spiriutality and there is not good spirituality. The Lord Jesus Himself has warned those who study His Word of such so we can be aware of who isn't telling the Truth and recognize when there is Truth.

Religion is significant in today's society as it helps us base our laws. For example, Australia's laws and the way everybody treats each other is based on Christianity (i.e The Ten Commandments).

Religion is one of the most dictating factors to make and influence our laws, that's why with each country and different belief, it makes everybody so different and have different morals and ethnical decision making. What may be legal in one country may be illegal in Another Country because of the different religion and beliefs. For example, people who believe in the Koran aren't allowed to drink while people who believe in the bible, or who's country is based on Christianity is allowed to drink alcohol. The way everybody lives is based on religion of that country or own religion. There is no right or wrong in the sense of how a person is brought up.

Religion is very important in a Christian society as it dictates how an individual treats each other, which based on how Jesus treated his people.

Jesus taught his people how they should live in order for them to be happy and please God.

Matthew chapters 5, 6 & 7 -Jesus told them to love his enemies, do good to people who hated them, and pray for the people who mistreated them. Jesus wanted his people to be a good influence for other people, so they too will please God. Jesus also taught them not to be judgmental and to not worry about things because God will care for them.

Another example of how Jesus wanted to lead by example of how to treat each other is in the bible, Mark 10:11-16.

''Jesus loved children. No matter how tired he was, he liked to have the children at his side. One day a group of mothers brought their children to Jesus, to be blessed by him. His disciples thought Jesus was too busy to be bothered by the children, so they were sending the children away. Jesus stopped them and said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.' And he put his hands on them and blessed them.''

Jesus wanted his people to value children highly, since children have many qualities about them that he don't want the children to lose, and therefore he wants his people to be like. Children do not hold a grudge nor remember wrongs, they forgive and forget quickly. Children looks up to their parents trust them and depend on them, which is what Jesus wanted his people to do to God as well.
