Since a literal reading of the Book of Genesis implies that Adam and Eve were created only six thousand years ago, a literal answer to this question is that everything, even humans, existed long before Adam and Eve.

However, putting science aside, Adam and Eve were part of the first creation in the second creation story in Genesis. The first creation story in Genesis says that everything was created shortly before man was created, both male and female. The second creation story says that Adam was created first, then the beasts of the earth, then Eve was created from Adam's rib.

The universe, including earth with its plants and animals, were in existence prior to Adam and Eve. They were the first humans to be created as the crowning work of God's creation. The plants and animals were not necessarily the same as we have today, but were the earliest kind of today's species which have developed from them. God pre-existed all, and the other heavenly beings also came before Adam and Eve.
