After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples, taught them, and ate with them. He also commissioned them to spread his teachings to all nations. Before his ascension, he instructed them to wait for the Holy Spirit to empower them for their mission.
Some people believe the ascension is not important because they view it as a theological concept that does not significantly impact daily life or personal faith. Others may prioritize the teachings and actions of Jesus during his earthly ministry over his ascension, considering those aspects more relevant to their spiritual journey. Additionally, some interpretations of scripture emphasize salvation and resurrection as the core tenets of Christianity, leading to a diminished focus on the ascension.
A:It is unclear just when Jesus did ascend to heaven, if this is historically correct. Acts of the Apostles tells us that he ascended after forty days, during which he was seen by many (1:3). On this account, he could have chosen to wait until enough people had seen him to prove his resurrection was real. However, Luke's Gospel, written by the same author but somewhat earlier, says that Jesus ascended to heaven on the evening of the day of his resurrection (24:51). Paul, in his epistles, seems to have believed that the resurrection and the ascension to heaven were one and the same event - in other words, that Jesus was resurrected spiritually and that there was no physical resurrection. Matthew and Mark do not mention an ascension to heaven, and Matthew's account of the appearance of the risen Jesus to the disciples seems to rule out the ascension in Acts as well as that in Luke. On these accounts we can not say that Jesus waited forty days, or even that he ascended bodily to heaven at all.
According to Christian belief, during the period between his death and resurrection, Jesus Christ descended into the realm of the dead to proclaim victory over sin and death and to free the righteous souls who had died before his coming. This event is known as the Harrowing of Hell.
The resurrection is when man is changed from mortality to immortality. Death will no longer have claim on mankind. During these periods of resurrection mankind will be judged by their deeds on earth.

The first time the term 'Christian' is used to describe the followers of Jesus Christ is after His death, resurrection and ascension in Acts 11:26 for those in Antioch. Before this, they were called The Way by some and while Jesus was establishing His Church, He personally called His 12 Apostles and various disciples.

The Sadducees, a Jewish religious group during the time of Jesus, did not believe in a bodily resurrection. They only accepted the authority of the Torah (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible) and did not believe in an afterlife or resurrection of the dead.
Jesus instructed the disciples to go to the upper room to prepare for the coming of the Holy Spirit, as He had promised them. This gathering was a time for prayer, reflection, and unity among the disciples after His resurrection and before His ascension. It was in this setting that they would later receive the Holy Spirit during Pentecost, empowering them for their mission to spread the Gospel.
