This could have other definitions but mine is that you delve into your heart and see how it compares to God's desires for you. What you want and what He does. It also means that you start asking yourself if you need to change and you really see that you fall short of the glory of God.

God doesn't hide His glory. The thing is - God's glory is unapproachable to us mortals. We would really have to be completely perfect - anything less falls short of His glory and could not get close. That's why Jesus is our go-between - he bridges that gap.
