Two of the Old Testament prophets who delivered God's message to the Jewish peoples and future prophecy for the latter times.
The prophet was Jeremiah. The princes of Israel did not like his prophetic message so they cast him into a muddy pit, from which he was later drawn out in the manner described. This is found in Jeremiah 38:1-13.
(Jeremiah 18) God told Jeremiah to go to a potter, where God would speak of His relationship with the Israelites. "So I went to the potter's house, and saw him working at the wheel. The pot he was making from the clay had become malformed in his hands; so he made it into a different pot, shaping it as seemed best. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, 'Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?' declares the Lord. 'Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.' " The message is that God is in control and our free will cannot undo or outdo Him.
Jeremiah 29:11 in the Bible conveys a message of hope and assurance from God to his people. It speaks of God's plans for his people, plans for their welfare and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope. This verse is often interpreted as a promise of God's faithfulness and provision for his followers.
The weeping prophet in the Bible was Jeremiah. His tears symbolized his deep sorrow and anguish over the sins and impending destruction of his people. Jeremiah's tears served as a powerful reminder of the consequences of disobedience to God's laws and a call to repentance.
