Muslims give out Eid cards for greeting their friends and family for this happy occasion which is the same as people giving out birthday cards or Christmas cards or Hanukkah cards or Kwanzaa cards or get well cards. The reason is that it's a nice gesture and the cards show that people are remembered.
It used to be a common practice in the Asian continent especially in India and Pakistan when Eid cards were sent to greet friends and relatives on Eid. I am not sure this was done in the Arab world. More recently this is getting less popular as we now have emails, face book and twitter.
Eid Mubarak is the wishing of eid for Muslims to each other on the day of Eid Celebration.
The same words may be used: eid kareem or eid moubarak
